When a naval ship is deployed overseas some members of the crew will take photographs and others will make notes about their experiences along the way. At the end of the deployment these photos and notes are often compiled into a form similar to a high school yearbook. These books are called a "Cruise Book".
Thanks to some very generous shipmate members of our USS John W. Thomason DD760 Association we have been able to reproduce many of the Cruise Books from our ship. You will find here Cruise Books from 1955, 1956, 1957, 1961, 1963, 1966, 1967-68, and 1969 (you will find links to each in the menu on the right of this page). If you happen to have a Cruise Book from other years, or know someone who does, please let us know. We will make arrangements to get the Cruise Book pages scanned so they can be placed here on our web pages.
On these web pages you can view the Cruise Book pages. Perhaps, if you were a member of the JWT crew during the time these Cruise Books chronicle, you may relive in your mind some of your experiences as a "Tin Can" sailor.
