The USS John W. Thomason DD760 was built by Bethlehem Steel at San Francisco, California starting November of 1943. She was launched on September 30, 1944 and commissioned on October 11, 1945. She was decommissioned on December 8, 1970 and struck from the US Navy inventory on February 1, 1974. She was then transferred to the Republic of China (Taiwan) on May 6, 1974. She was renamed as the Nan Yang (DD-15), then reclassified as DDG-915, and served with the ROC navy until January 16, 2000 when she was decommissioned and tranferred to reserve status.
The ship was later used as target practice and sunk to a depth of about 838 meters at location 24° 30' 48.0 122° 00' 00.00
